Canyon de Chelly is a well known national monument and is one of the most popular in the United States. Despite its popularity, many citizens here in the USA have never even heard of the location nor even recognize its beautiful sights.

The earliest occupants of Canyon de Chelly were the Anasazi when they started building the structures some time around 300 A.D. After the Anasazi came the Navajo who still inhabit the region today.

The region of Canyon de Chelly is comprised of three canyons. Which includes Monument Canyon and Canyon del Muerto. The astounding beauty of the canyons and landscape is like standing in the middle of natural cathedral. There are plenty of beautiful sights and overlooks to be seen at these canyons in Chinle, Arizona. To see them, there are paved paths for vehicles. While other paths are more off-road. There are also guided tours by horse or Jeep. Along with choices of what 'tours' you want to take during your visit(s).

You can learn more about the canyon from this Canyon de Chelly National Monument book from 1997 or, if you're planning to visit, at https://www.nps.gov/cach/index.htm
