Game Of Thrones Season 6 Trailer - Season 5's, "Mother's Mercy" Recap

When season 5 of Game of Thrones ended there were, as usual, cliffhangers that we've all been waiting for the new season to show us what happened. Here's where the show left off involving some of the characters:

Shireen is burned at the stake after Melisandre convinces Stannis to sacrifice his daughter after Ramsey Bolton carries out a devastating attack against some of Stannis' men. The sacrifice of his daughter, to appease the Lord of Light, upsets him as she screams burning at the stake. Stannis also prepares to march on Winterfell.

Melisandre is happy over the sacrifice and the melting of snow on the day after the sacrifice. Which allows Stannis to take Winterfell. A problem arises when news comes that half of Stannis' army has deserted. Another soldier arrives and finds out Selyse had hung herself out of guilt of playing a part in her daughter Shireen's sacrifice. Melisandre then abandons Stannis out of fear of Stannis, steals a horse, and takes off to Castle Black.

Brienne awaits Sansa's signal, but is disrupted when Podrick spots Stannis and his army approaching from the distance. Sansa lights the candle in the tower only moments after Brienne leaves her lookout. Stannis' forces arrive and a battle ensues, wiping out all of Stannis' soldiers. Brienne discovers a wounded Stannis and informs him of who she is. He makes a confession that he was involved in the death of his younger brother Renly. Brienne was previously tasked with protecting Renly and she makes the decision to sentence Stannis to death over his involvement. He says his last words and she executes him with one strike of her sword.

Arya then removes her false face, taken from the House of Black and White, and proceeds stab Meryn in the eyes and the chest. She then gags his mouth and tells Meryn who she is and reminds him of killing her sword-fighting teacher Syrio Forel. Arya then cuts Meryn's throat. Afterwards, she returns to the Hall of Faces and puts the face back. Jaqen and the Waif appear and Jaqen tells her that Meryn's life wasn't hers to take. Arya is grabbed by the Waif as Jaqen swallows a vial of poison. Arya screams for him not to die. The actual Jaqen is behind her and was 'hiding' as the Waif, saying that the 'Jaqen' dead of poisonous was, "no one." Arya begins removing the faces of the deceased individual and soon comes upon her own. At that point, her eyes begin to turn white and she goes blind.

In Dorne, Ellaria (who poisoned Myrcella) puts the poison antidote on her lips.

Cersei finally gives in to Septa Unella and says she will confess her sins and is brought before the High Sparrow to confess them. She confesses to her affair with Lancel but denies any relationship with her brother Jaime. She asks to see her son Tommen at the Red Keep and it is granted. All the while, Septa Unella is repeating shame and rings a bell every few steps. The crowd throws food and other items at her as they hurl insults.
